Shri Sidhnath Mahadev Mandir (Shri Panch Dus Naam Juna Akhhada) Bahraich
Yudhishthir had established Shivalinga in exile, named it Siddhanath.
The mythological identity of Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh is with Sidhnath Mahadev. It is believed that when Emperor Yudhishthir left for exile, the Shivalinga he established in the foothills of the Himalayas later came to be known as Siddhanath.
: Brahmaich, which was the penance place of Brahma in Dwapar Yuga, is now called Bahraich. The mythological identity of this city is with Siddhanath Mahadev. Siddhanath means Mahadev who fulfills every wish. Devotees who come with a wish from the bottom of their heart do not return disappointed from here, provided their wish is for a good deed. It is believed that when Emperor Yudhishthir of Indraprastha lost his throne to Duryodhana due to the devious tricks of Shakuni in gambling and left for exile, he chose the foothills of the Himalayas. Pandavas established many Shivalingas in this area. Among these, the Shivalinga which was established by Yudhishthir himself in the dense forest, later came to be known as Siddhanath.
During the period of exile, he wished to regain his lost glory by continuously worshiping with lotus flowers. The reason is clear that after the success of Agyatavas, Yudhishthir got victory in Kurukshetra with the inspiration of Lord Krishna and the blessings of Lord Shiva.
Since then, the tradition of consecrating Lord Shiva with lotus flowers has been going on here. Bahraich, covered with rivers and lakes, still has an abundance of lotus flowers. Be it white or red lotus! Earlier, blue colored lotuses were also found here, which Queen Draupadi was very fond of. There are still about half a dozen such lakes within a radius of 10-12 kilometers from the temple complex, where lotus flowers are still available.
Located in Brahmanipura locality in the middle of the city, Siddhanath Temple is just one kilometer from the bus station and two kilometers from the railway station. One can reach here on foot, rickshaw or private vehicle. The management here is the responsibility of Shri Panchadashnam Juna Akhara Kashi.
This five thousand years old Dwapar period temple was renovated from time to time. At present the temple is being expanded.
A special fair is held on Kajri Teej: Although this is a temple where thousands of devotees come every day to see Siddhanath, but on Kajri Teej and Shivratri, apart from Bahraich district, devotees from neighboring districts and Nepal also come for darshan and worship. . Festivals like Krishna Janmashtami, Gurupurnima, Annakoot are also celebrated here in a traditional manner.
Here there is a special tradition of Mangala Aarti in the morning, Bhog Aarti in the afternoon, Shayan Aarti at night and adornment of Bholenath in the evening.
Apart from Shiva, there are idols of many gods and goddesses: Apart from Siddha Nath, idols of Maa Parvati, Maa Durga, Maa Kali, Bhairav Baba, Gaurishankar, Tirupati Balaji, Shanidev Hanumanji, Suryanarayan, Ganapati, Nandishwar, Radha-Krishna are also installed. Devotees also bow to him with the same reverence with which they anoint Bholenath.
