Siddheshwar Temple Shivpuri, Shivalinga installed in the temple was brought from Omkareshwar.
Shivpuri. Shri Siddheshwar Temple located on Chhatri Road of the city is an ancient temple of the city. Behind the Siddheshwar temple is the temple of Gorakhnath, which also houses the 12th century idol of Gorakhnath. Gorakhnath, the originator of the Nath sect, also performed penance for some time here. Shiva temples were built in Shivpuri by Daulatrao Scindia’s queen Baijabai Scindia.
Siddheshwar temple was built in this sequence. The Shivalinga installed in the temple was brought from Omkareshwar and twelve Jyotirlingas were installed around it. The important thing is that Bhadaiya Kund, Chhatri, Jadhav Sagar and Siddheshwar temples are present in a line which has more importance in terms of Vaastu. Chhatris of the kings of Narwar are also present in this temple complex. Ancient idols of Lord Ganesha, Kartikji, Ram-Janaki, Radha-Krishna, Lord Vishnu are also present in this temple. In this temple, Lord Shiva is present in the form of Linga and idol.
In the month of Sawan, a large number of men, women and children come to worship at the Siddheshwar temple. Earlier there used to be a Mahant in this temple, but later the administration took it under its custody and made it a trust. Ravana Dahan takes place on Dussehra in this temple complex itself, while the Siddheshwar Wanganga fair which is held every year is also organized here. Since Siddheshwar Temple has idols of all the Gods, it is the only temple in the city which has idols of all the Gods and Goddesses along with Lord Shiva.
