Sri Selva Vinayakar Temple, South Maclean
SelvaVinayakar Temple is situated amidst natural scenic beauty, in proximity to the Logan River at South Maclean, an area of where ample peace and inspiration exist. The temple was constructed in the year 1995 in traditional Indian style in accordance with ancient SitpaSastra and Agamas. A beautiful tower (Gopuram) and ornamental icons are also constructed in the temple by the Indian sculptures. The vimanam over the sanctum sanctorum with its stupi, stands at a height of about 20 feet above the ground level. On the right of the Central Shrine is the deity of Lord Shiva and on the left is Goddess Parvati. The temple also has deities of Lord Murugan, the shrines of Navagrah and Vairavar are located in their respective places close to the main entrance. This holy shrine also serves as a centre for various cultural and educational activities where religious classes are conducted for kids; music and dance programs are also held in the temple in which scholars and religious leaders are invited to address the devotees on special occasions.
