History
Srivankhandeshwar Mahadev Temple is more than a thousand years old. The temple is situated on the right hand side at a distance of one km from the intersection on Mohammadpur Khala-Jhanjhra road. Legend has it that there was a forest here thousands of years ago. The idol of Mahadev was installed in it. Gradually the forest continued to be cut and the shepherds saw Shivalinga for the first time. There is no record or information about the establishment. Along with Mahadev temple, there is also a temple of Hanuman ji and Bhairav. The temple is renovated with the cooperation of the area residents. Earlier, rope marks were found at the bottom of Shivalinga. The belief is that people used to take their animals to be sold in the markets here after tying them to the market, then they were sold at good prices.
Devotees from Sitapur, Bahraich and Lakhimpur also come here in the month of Sawan. The sequence of Shiva worship continues with Rudrabhishek and Jalabhishek. Earlier the Mahant here was Patte Baba. His descendants still worship in the temple. Devotees worship here as per the rituals on Monday of the month of Sawan.
This is a very proven temple where every wish is believed to be fulfilled. Along with this, the glory of the temple of Kaal Bhairav and Hanuman ji is immense. Devotees perform Bhandara and Abhishek puja here to fulfill their desired wishes.
The ancient Shivalinga had appeared in the forest centuries ago. After the darshan, the fame spread so much that a temple was built here. Here the chain of people getting the desired results emanating from the mind and soul is increasing.
