What is the difference between Hanuman Chalisa and Bajrang Baan?
Both Hanuman and Bajrang are synonyms for Lord Mahavira, a devotee of Lord Rama. The names themselves clearly indicate that both are forms of devotion related to Lord Hanuman. However, there is a significant difference between the two. The Hanuman Chalisa uses couplets to praise Lord Hanuman, meaning these are simply couplets praising him. Any devotee, whether male or female, old or young, can recite them to please him and fulfill their desires.
But Bajrang Baan is a divine weapon used in extreme circumstances. To put it another way, Hanuman Chalisa is an Ayurvedic method of treatment that takes more time, while Bajrang Baan is an allopathic injection that provides immediate results and is used in times of dire crisis.
The time and circumstances of the composition of the Hanuman Chalisa and the Bajrang Baan —
When the Mughal emperor forced Saint Goswami Tulsidas to perform a miracle, and he still refused, he was imprisoned. Tulsidas composed the Hanuman Chalisa to secure his release from prison.
It is said that when some tantrik in Kashi used Maran Mantra on Tulsidas ji and caused him a lot of pain, many boils and pimples appeared on his body which were causing him immense pain, then troubled by the unbearable pain, he composed Bajrang Baan.
Who can recite it?
Any devotee, male or female, who is deeply troubled by an enemy, or is suffering from an illness, or is unable to complete a task despite repeated attempts and is extremely important, i.e., for any difficult, virtuous task, can recite Bajrang Baan.
