Mother Bhumiya protects from disaster
Meerut: Temple of Mata Bhumiya located at Bhumiya Bridge. There is a rush of devotees in this temple which has mythological importance in the morning and evening. There is a huge influx of devotees during Navratri. When the vow is fulfilled, the devotees sing praises of the Mother Goddess with drums.
The temple has been established since ancient times
It is not certain when the temple was established. According to temple priest Krishna Pal Kashyap, according to mythology, Meerut was settled by the demon Maydant. During this time he built the temple of Mata Bhumiya Devi.
Even today, the temple of this mother is built first in the villages and fields to protect against natural disasters. Priest Gyanendra Krishna says that Mother Chamunda and Katyayani are her form. She is the mother of the farm. The gates of the temple are open for devotees all the time. During Navratri, special worship of various forms of Mother Goddess takes place.
The world map was made from here
According to the priest, the map of the world was earlier made from Meerut only. Maydant established Meerut here because Ganga and Yamuna and their tributaries Hindon and Kali rivers are at equal distance. There is zero fear of natural disasters. The map of the world was prepared from here.
Jaggery and chadar are offered in the temple
Priest Krishna Pal says that jaggery and chadar are offered in the temple. Only jaggery is offered to the mother. Any other type of Prasad is rarely offered. Apart from this, when the number of cows and buffaloes increases, Kheer-Puri is offered in the temple.
