According to Kashi Khand, once Chandrama became extremely infatuated with Jupiter’s wife Tara. Despite the warnings of the gods, the moon took Tara with himself by force. Despite much pleading and pleading, Chandrama kept Tara with him for several days and refused to leave her.

Everyone insisted Tara to know who the father of the child was, but Tara remained silent.
Meanwhile, the newborn baby who was very intelligent (with intelligence) threatened to curse Tara if she did not tell the truth. Finally Tara told that Chandra is the father of that child. Given the high intelligence of the child (Buddhi), he came to be called Budha. Mercury asked Chandra for permission to go to Kashi and worship Lord Shiva, to which Chandra agreed.
Buddha came to Kashi, installed a linga and worshiped Lord Shiva for many years. Finally Lord Shiva appeared before him and blessed him that the Linga established by Buddha would be known as Budheshwar and those who worshiped this Linga would attain the highest level of intelligence and such intelligence would always remain with the devotee, whether he No matter how old you are.
