Mother Chhoti Devkali is seated as the family goddess of Mother Sita.
Crowd of devotees gathered to visit Maa Chhoti Devkali temple located in Ram city Ayodhya.

Ayodhya: On the day of Shardiya Navratri in Ram Nagri Ayodhya, there is a flood of devotees at Maa Chhoti Devkali Temple, the main Siddha Shakti Peeth of Ayodhya. The statue of Mata Parvati established by Mata Sita in Ayodhya, who is today famous by the name of Maa Devkali. By worshiping at this place all the wishes are fulfilled.

Mother Sita is worshiped as the family goddess.
In the holy city of Lord Shri Ram, Ayodhya, the city goddess Sarvamangala Parvati resides in the form of Mata Gauri in the Chhoti Devkali temple. In Shri Devkali temple, Mother Sita is worshiped with special faith and devotion in this Shakti Peeth as the family goddess.  Ramnagari Ayodhya is prominent among the best pilgrimage places in the world. It is believed that when Mother Sita went from Janakpuri to her in-laws’ house in Ayodhya, she brought the idol of her clan goddess Mata Parvati with her. Maharaj Dashrath ji had built the temple of Shri Parvati ji on the north-east corner of Saptsagar in Ayodhya, where Mother Sita and other queens of the royal family used to go for worship. Today, this Ramayana temple has become a major religious place in India due to its grandeur and superiority.

This place was demolished by Hun and Mughal rulers.
It is in history that the Devkali temple was destroyed twice due to the attacks of Huns and Mughals. For the first time, it was rebuilt by Maharaj Pushyamitra and for the second time, when it was demolished by the Mughals, the Mahant of Bindu sect built a small chamber in place of this grand temple. From then till today worship is going on in this temple. There is mention of Shri Devkali ji and her temple also in Rudrayamal and Skandapuran, which proves the mythology of this historical temple. Chinese travelers Hiuen Tsang and Fa Hien have also mentioned the prestige, splendor and specialty of this temple in their travels. Worship of Goddess Devkali and traditional festivals continue throughout the year in the Devkali temple. During Navratri, the devotion of devotees overflows here. The priest told that this place belongs to the family goddess of Mother Sita. Mother Sita used to worship Mother Parvati in the form of Gauri. It is believed that whoever prays in this court with a true heart, his wishes are definitely fulfilled.
