Dodital is a freshwater lake in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand.
Dodital is also known as “Dhundital” meaning ‘Ganesha Ka Tal’ or ‘Lake of Ganesha’. As per Hindu mythology, it is believed that Dodital is the birth place of Lord Ganesha, the son of Lord Shiva and Parvati. It is said that Lord Ganesha chose this lake as his abode. There is a beautiful temple located on the corner of the lake which is dedicated to Lord Ganesha.

Mythology
