Jangali Nath Mandir Bahraich

Bahraich: Pandav period Baba Junglenath temple situated in Shivnagar of Masudnagar Basthanwa is the center of faith. Every Monday of Sawan, a crowd of devotees gather here for Jalabhishek. Devotees start arriving as soon as the dawn breaks. It is believed that by offering water here, the wishes of the devotees are definitely fulfilled.
History of the temple
It is said that there was a dense forest here. Shepherds used to graze their cattle here. Long ago the cattle rearing community had stopped here. People grazing cattle were trampling Kush, mistaking it for a stone. During this time some red colored residue started coming out. After this a Shivalinga appeared from the ground here. Since then it was named Jangli Nath because of the forest. Devotees perform Jalabhishek in the Shiva temple after taking bath in the pond built in the premises. A fair is organized on Kajri Teej. Devotees come here for Jalabhishek.
Features of the temple
Shiva family is present in the sanctum sanctorum of Jangalnath temple. The doors of the temple open at four in the morning. Jalabhishek begins after the priest’s puja, aarti and offering of food. On the month of Sawan and Hartalika Teej, events like Palathi puja, Rudrabhishek puja, Om Namah Shivay chanting and kirtan-bhajans continue. Shraddha keeps coming for Jalabhishek throughout the night. Devotees gather in hundreds on every Monday of Sawan. There is an atmosphere of worship throughout the day. Apart from Lord Shiva, temples of Lord Ganesha and Mata Gaura are also found along with Jangli Nath. There is a gathering of sages and saints here. This grand temple could be built with the cooperation of the devotees. Devotees perform Jalabhishek of Baba Jangalinath by filling water from Saryu river.
