Kali Mata Temple Meerut
The history of Sadar Maa Kali temple is 450 years old.
The ancient Mahakali temple located in Sadar area is one of the most famous temples. Siddhapeeth temple of Maa Kali is 450 years old. It is said that earlier there used to be a crematorium in place of the temple. This is the reason why the temple is also known as the cremation ground Mahakali.
A Bengali family has been taking care of the temple since the beginning. Every year there is a continuous flow of devotees during Navratri days. According to belief, Mother Kali fulfills all the wishes made with a true heart. During the days of Navratri, special decoration of the mother is done in the temple. Aarti takes place after morning adornment. Along with this, special Maha Aarti of Mahakali is performed with drums every day at ten o’clock in the night. Special puja is performed in the temple on the sixth day of Navratri and the number of devotees is also high on this day.
There used to be a small statue in the crematorium
It is said that years ago there used to be a cremation ground here. In which a small idol of Maa Kali was installed. People used to come here and worship. As people’s wishes started getting fulfilled here, the temple started gaining fame. A Bengali family started worshiping the idol in the crematorium and has been serving it ever since.
According to belief, by worshiping Goddess Kali, evil powers and witchcraft are destroyed. About 150 years ago, a huge temple was built here and the temple came to be known as Siddhapeeth. People from other cities and states also come here to visit.
Mata Rani removes troubles
Temple priest Babu Pandit told that in the temple, Mata Rani relieves the troubles of all the devotees. A wish made with a true heart is definitely fulfilled. Mother’s priest Nishant Banerjee says that people come to the temple to make wishes by offering chunri and coconut to the mother. There is a constant flow of devotees coming not only from the city but also from outside.
