The temple has several inscriptions dating from the 8th century in Tamil and Telugu presumably from the period of Dantivarman, who was a Vishnu devotee. The temple is unique in that it is one of the few shrines in the country dedicated to Krishna as Parthasarathy. The deity is depicted with a prominent mustache, which symbolizes his valor during the battle and his lineage as part of the Yadava dynasty. Additionally, the temple houses idols of three avatars of Vishnu: Narasimha, Rama, and Krishna, along with his consort Rukmini, brother Balarama, son Pradyumna, grandson Aniruddha, and Satyaki.

The Parthasarathy Temple is classified as one of the 108 Divya Desams, which are sacred temples glorified in the Alvar saints’ literature from the 6th to 9th centuries CE. It is also known for its intricate carvings, towering gopurams (gateway towers), and vibrant murals depicting various mythological tales.

The temple is somewhere around 1100 years old made by pallava kings. The architechture is really good. Temple also has a pond.
