It was established 300 years ago
Apart from Gorakhnath temple in Gorakhpur city, there is another temple which has a deep connection with Gorakshpeeth. Its name is Manasarovar Shiv Temple which is situated in Adhiyari Bagh area. This temple is protected by Gorakhnath Temple only.
On the day of Vijayadashami, the procession of Mahant of Gorakshpeeth, which starts from Gorakhnath temple, ends at this temple. Whoever has been the Mahant of Gorakshpeeth till now, has been traditionally worshiping in the Shiva Temple, Ramjanaki Temple, Radhakrishna Temple and Durga Temple located in the Manasarovar Temple complex on the day of Vijayadashami.
The history of the temple is three hundred years old
Yogi Kamal Nath, the head priest of Gorakhnath temple, said that the history of Mansarovar Shiva temple is very old. The temple was built three hundred years ago by the then Unwal King Raja Man Singh. He told that on the day of Shivratri, a huge crowd of devotees gather at this ancient temple.
Chief Minister got the renovation work done of Mansarovar Shiv Temple
After Gorakshpeethadhishwar Mahant Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister, the face of this temple changed. After becoming the Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath had released Rs 7 crore for the renovation of Mansarovar Shiv Temple.
After this, the temple, lake, Yatri Niwas and guest residence located in the complex have been renovated. Now this temple has become the identity of Gorakhpur.
