Gooram Samay Mata Temple of Gorakhpur witnesses a huge crowd of devotees during Navratri. There is a huge crowd of devotees here on Monday and Tuesday. Devotees believe that the wishes made here are fulfilled.
There is a temple of Maa Guram Samay, 25 km from Gorakhpur headquarters on Gorakhpur-Sonauli road, 200 meters north of Panchgaon-Fardhani village on PPGanj-Fardhani road. To reach here, private vehicles are available all the time from the headquarters and PPganj. There is also a temple of Lord Shiva, Dharamshala and Yagyashala in the complex. A large crowd of devotees gather here during Navratri.
This is the history of the temple
According to belief, there was Singhor forest here in Dwapar era. Pandavas rested here during their exile. They made a Pindi there and worshiped Maa Gooram Samay. According to a legend, about 200 years ago, the Tharus dug a 33-acre pond in a single night and built a grand temple at a height of 25 feet. Also started the puja by making a clay elephant. The temple is surrounded by banyan trees. It was renovated by devotees in 1995-96. The temple has been beautified with the efforts of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and MLA Fateh Bahadur Singh.
Features of the temple
Here people pray for happiness, peace, prosperity and having children. When the wishes are fulfilled, people offer brass bells and halwa-puri. After accepting the Prasad with devotion, it is also taken home. Many auspicious works are also performed. There is also a temple of Lord Shiva, Dharamshala and Yagyashala in the complex. A large crowd of devotees gather here during Navratri. Every Monday and Tuesday, a large number of devotees come to see the Goddess.
