Richheshwar Mahadev Temple Sirohi Rajasthan
There is a very ancient Shiva temple (Richeshwar Mahadev) situated invillage ‘Nandiya‘ which is mentioned in Hindu scriptures.
Due to the religious and spiritual importance of this temple, devotees from all over the country come here for darshan. It is noteworthy that in this temple, the female saint of Australian origin Shri Durganathji Maharaj had performed penance in this temple for about 12 years, which is very famous in the country and abroad. It was also a topic of discussion.
According to the scriptures, when Lord Shri Krishna was accused of stealing ‘Shyamantak Mani’, due to which Lord Shri Krishna reached here in search of the gem to prove his innocence, then he placed it around the neck of Jambavanti, the daughter of Rishi Jambavan. Saw that gem and to get it, there was a 28 day long battle between sage Jambavan and Lord Krishna at this place.
Even after this, when Rishi Jambavant could not defeat Shri Krishna, he came to know that he was actually Lord Vishnu. Then, putting an end to the war, sage Jambavant gave the hand of his daughter Jambavanti to Lord Krishna.
To complete this marriage, Lord Shiva appeared in the form of a Brahmin and got both of them married and after this, Swayambhu Shiva resided in this cave forever and sage Jambavant, who was in the form of a bear, did his penance. Due to its location, this temple was named Richeshwar Mahadev Temple.
