Sarneshwar Mandir, Sirohi Rajasthan
In 1094 AD, Jai Singh Siddharaj Siddharajadhiraj became the Chalukya emperor of Gujarat and he moved his capital from Karnavati to Siddhapur, where he built a seven-storey temple of Lord Rudramal Shankar and installed different deities in each section.
The Sarneshwar Mandir, a splendid and historically significant monument, stands as a prominent tourist attraction in the town of Sirohi. Its origins trace back to 1298 BC when Maharao Vijairaj Ji, the king of Sirohi, triumphed over Alauddin Khilji’s army, gaining control of the idol. The idol was subsequently installed in the Sinarwa Mountains after being brought from Sidhpur, Gujarat, where a renowned temple had been demolished.
In the following years, the complete construction of the temple, along with its surroundings, took place, shaping the structure we behold today. Over time, the temple evolved into the family temple of the royal Devda Rajput lineage of Sirohi. Presently, the temple is under the administration of the Devasthan Department, Government of Rajasthan, boasting a sizable area adorned with intricate carvings on its walls.
