Sri Kameshwari Devi temple is situated in Chowdantivalasa Village in Vizianagaram District of Andhra Pradesh, and this sacred temple is situated amidst full of natural beauty. Sri Maha Kameshwari Devi is the family deity for most of the people belonging to Brahmin community in and around Vizianagaram District.

Sri Kameshwari Devi Temple dedicated to Goddess Parvati is considered as an aspect of Maa Shakti Devi. Pilgrims after finishing the holy bath in Pushkarini (Rudragundam) generally have the blessings of Lord Shiva and Kameshwari Devi.Sri Kameshwari Devi is worshiped by her devotees in order to get rid from the bad habits like lust, anger and greed. She keeps the sugarcane bow and the arrows made out of flowers, in order to remove the lust from our mind.

King Nandana and his ancestors performed Pujas in this temple. Kameswari Devi Temple was reconstructed in 1939. In this premises of this temple, Sri Kodanda Ramalayam dedicated to Lord Rama was built in 1953. The temple has Sri Rama, Sita, Lakshmana Idols.

Devi in her incarnation as Kameshwari looks very soft and gentle, and she sits in Padmasana posture. She contains a shining and a smiling face, and wears flower garlands and gold ornaments. She is having four beautiful hands, and gives her immense blessings to her sincere devotees.

As per legend, after Kama Deva was destroyed by Lord Shiva, Maa Parvati Devi took Kama’s sugarcane bow and his flower arrows to her possession, in order to make the minds of the people into pure and pious. She blossoms the lives of her devotees and gives good prospects in their lives. She is also called as Kamakshi and Kamakya, and Ma Kamakshi is residing in the famous Kamakshi Amman Temple at Kancheepuram, and Ma Kamakya is having her temple at Guwahati, Assam.

Every year during Vijayadasami, special puja would be held in this temple, and during that time, lot of devotees would gather in the temple.
