The most powerful thing in the world

Share

One day, a debate broke out among the disciples of the Gurukul over what the most powerful object in the universe was. Some said one thing, some another… When the mutual dispute failed to resolve, all the disciples approached the Guru.

The Guru listened to their arguments first and, after some thought, said, “Have you all lost your minds? Are you asking such absurd, meaningless questions?”

With that, he left.

No one had expected this reaction from the Guru, who always had a calm demeanor. All the disciples became angry and began criticizing his behavior among themselves.

They were still criticizing when the Guru arrived and said-

I am proud of all of you. You never waste a single moment and even during your leisure time, you engage in discussions about knowledge.

The disciples were overwhelmed by the words of praise from the Guru. Their self-respect was awakened, and everyone’s faces lit up.

The Guru then explained to all his disciples, saying, “My dear disciples! You must have found my behavior a bit strange today… Actually, I did this intentionally to answer your question.

Look, when I rebuked you in response to your question, you all became angry and began criticizing me, but when I praised you, you all became happy… My children, there is nothing more powerful in this world than words. Words can turn a friend into an enemy and an enemy into a friend. Everyone should use such a powerful instrument with caution. The sweetness of speech attracts people. The disciples returned satisfied after listening to their Guruji’s words and from that day on, they began practicing sweet speech.

Lesson: Our speech, or our words, are incredibly powerful; we need to use them wisely. Maintaining good language and expressing our views without hurting others can enhance our personality and make us popular.
