Ujiyari Devi Temple Kanpur

When smallpox disease spread during the British period, many people applied water offered to Maa Ujiyari Devi and got relief from the disease. Since then it has been believed that smallpox and skin related diseases can be cured by applying the water offered to the mother.
The temple of Maa Ujiyari Devi located in Nawabganj in Kanpur is called Shaktipeeth. Temple priest Acharya Rajneesh Shukla told that the Neem and Peepal trees planted at the time of independence are still present in the temple premises. Acharya Rajneesh told that here every wish made with a true heart is fulfilled by the Mother Goddess.
He told that before independence, there was a Sinha family in Peerod, Srinagar. Their chief Uziaridin worked for the British. The British government was pleased with the work of Uziaridin and gave him this land as a gift. On this land he built a temple of Maa Shitala Devi.

During the freedom movement of 1857, the revolutionaries conducted their activities by connecting Bithoor with the Khyora temple. Due to the safe and adequate space in the temple, the revolutionaries lived here only.
