This temple opens only on this day in the year, a huge crowd of devotees is seen.
While the whole country will celebrate by burning Ravana today, there are some people who offer special worship in the hundred year old temple of Ravana. This puja happens only on the day of Dussehra. On the day of Dussehra, devotees come to worship Ravana from the morning in the country’s only Dashanan temple located in Shivala of Kanpur. Let us know how Ravana is worshipped.
This temple opens only once a year on the day of Vijayadashami and people worship Ravana here early in the morning. Ravana is worshiped as a symbol of power in the Dashanan temple and devotees make wishes by lighting oil lamps. According to tradition, the doors of the temple were opened at eight in the morning today and the idol of Ravana was decorated. After this aarti took place. This evening the doors of the temple will be closed for a year.
This temple was built a hundred years ago by Maharaj Guru Prasad Shukla. Apart from being a great scholar, Ravana was also a great devotee of Lord Shiva. Therefore, Ravana’s temple was built here in the Kailash temple complex as a sentinel of power. To please Lord Shiva, he also worshiped the Goddess. Mother’s blessings were also on him. It is said that Mother Chinnamastika, being pleased with his worship, had given him a boon that his worship would be successful only if the devotees also worship Ravana.
It is believed that by offering oil and yellow flowers to Ravana here, all the malefic effects of the devotees’ planets are eliminated and happiness comes to the house.
