Maa Yashwantry Devi Temple Pilibhit
Pilibhit: Crowd of devotees gather in Yashwantari Devi temple during Navratri, know the complete history.
What is the history of the temple?
Mahant of the temple, Pt. Rajesh Bajpayee told that in ancient times, there used to be a wall made of yellow soil around Pilibhit, on the basis of which the city was named Pilibhit. At the same time, it used to have four gates. At the northern gate, a demon named Nakata used to prey on the cattle and people coming and going in Pilibhit. Mother Yashwantari was the form of Goddess Kali. He saved Pilibhit by killing the demon Nakata. In such a situation, this temple has been established at the place where Mother Yashwantari Devi had rested and drank water after killing the demon. Even today, the weapons used in the massacre and the water drinking vessel are present in the temple, which the devotees coming here visit and worship.
